Pump house and irrigation network

Pump house and irrigation network

DEMA Group designs the new pump house and irrigation network commissioned by Ardo and Inero.
This project is undoubtedly unique in Flanders: 47 farmers joined forces in the cooperative INERO CVBA and are working together with the processing industry to secure their water supply. Starting in August 2018, treated wastewater from Ardo in Ardooie is stored in a buffer basin. From the adjacent pump house, the water is pumped into an underground network.

The network spans 500 hectares of farmland and includes 150 distribution points. At each point, the water is supplied at a pressure of at least 8 bar, meaning that farmers only need to connect their irrigation systems to their respective outlet to begin irrigating.

DEMA Group designed the heart and arteries of the irrigation network:

  • Pressure loss calculations for the pipeline network
  • Selection of the booster pumps
  • Layout and piping design of the pump house
  • Layout of the entire pipeline network
  • Preparation of specifications and bill of quantities
  • Technical support during the execution of the project
